How to Have a Healthy Relationship with Fitness & Food

I think it’s safe to say there are WAY too many articles out there from “fitness professionals” on how to eat according to your fitness goals. And, for some people, that’s helpful. However, for the majority of people, they need a moderate balance. So,in this week’s blog, I’m sharing how to find and maintain that balance in your everyday life.

1). Keep your Meals Colorful

The more color your meals have, the better! Don’t be afraid to throw in extra veggies, fruits, or protein if the meal calls for it. After all, more color means more food to enjoy!

2). Get out of the “Cheat” Mindset

I hate the word “cheat” when referring to your one meal of the week that’s not the best for you. I like to refer to it as a “treat” because it has a much better connotation, and feels less like you have to “earn” it. Give yourself that treat and enjoy it!

3). Don’t Workout just to Eat

This is where obsessive behavior can start. We always want to workout because we love our bodies, not because we want to punish ourselves for eating something, or to “ earn” what we’re eating later.

4). It’s all about Balance

At the end of the day, we want to overall eat well and fuel our bodies and move regularly. If you’re accomplishing those things, you’re on the right path! So, don’t be hard on yourself if you fall off the wagon, you can ALWAYS get back on.

5). Hire a Fitness Coach

If you feel like you need help with any of the above thoughts, you can always hire a professional (like myself , hint hint) Someone who knows how to help people find that healthy balance can be a huge asset for you!
