One thing I don’t see fitness coaches talking about enough in this space is the importance of eating enough. We see so much messaging around weight loss, and having the right “look.” However, what’s important is making sure your body has enough fuel to function on a daily basis! So, in this week’s blog, I’m sharing a few reasons why it’s so important to keep yourself full and satisfied.
1). You’re less likely to binge eat
When you’re eating enough during the day, you’re less likely to be starving by the end of the day. That means you’re less likely to do something like order pizza, or eat and entire pint of ice cream. That doesn’t mean you can’t have those things! It just means if you’re fueling your body properly, you won’t be craving them.
2). It actually can help with weight loss
Yes, you read that correctly! Often times, if weight loss is your ultimate goal, and you aren’t eating enough, your metabolism slows down, and you plateau. So, by slightly increasing your calorie intake each day, you’re actually helping yourself with weight loss (if that’s your main goal).
3). You’re less likely to form unhealthy eating habits
What I mean by this is feeling like you have to eliminate certain foods, or starve yourself. You should NEVER feel like starving yourself is the answer. It’s simply a matter of balancing your meals, and making too for the foods you love.
4). You won’t form a disordered relationship with food
This is often where eating disorders start. It’s not about viewing foods as “good” or “bad” or feeling like you have to earn your food/see it as a reward. It’s about eating enough to fuel yourself throughout the day, as well as making sure it’s full of the nutrients our bodies need. When you learn to do this, your relationship with food will be so much better!
