Finding a New Sense of Normal

Have you ever had a life experience that completely shook everything up? Something that made you feel disoriented, and unsure what was next? If so, this is the blog post for you. For the last few months, I’ve been working on finding a new sense of normal for myself after several of those experiences. I’ve learned so much throughout the process, and I wanted to share the most important things I’ve picked up along the way.

1). Have Someone to Confide In

This is one of the most important things, especially when you’re trying to find your footing. For me, this person is my best friend. I tell her EVERYTHING, ya’ll. And she never judges, and always validates how I feel.

2). Prioritize Mental Health

Whether you’re prone to mental illness like I am or not, this is always important when you’re figuring out what your new normal looks like. Having routines and practices in place to keep you in a good place is so important. especially when you have bad days. For me, this includes music I love (usually Taylor Swift, ha), texting my best friend, and getting a good nights sleep.

3). Be Gentle with Yourself

You can’t rush something like this, and you absolutely need to give yourself the time to figure things out. It doesn’t happen overnight! This has been several months worth of work for me, and I still have a long way to go.

I hope this post gives you the permission to not be so hard on yourself when you’re finding your way. Have you found yourself in a similar situation? If so, share in the comments, or come let me know on Instagram @alexandraraye05
